NATALIE AND JAMES THOMPSON ART GALLERY

With nine galleries in the School of Art & Design and a weekly lecture series, the exhibition program at SJSU is one of the most extensive among art and design programs in the United States. The Natalie and James Thompson Art Gallery is the main gallery and presents six exhibits annually of work by professional artists. Each year there are exhibits of contemporary design, history of art, a collaborative exhibition with other art institutions in the Bay Area, and a special exhibition and residency.

In addition to the Thompson Gallery there are eight small student galleries. Included in this matrix of small galleries is a special installation/performance space and small design gallery. There are additional exhibition spaces in cases throughout the Art Building. In most of the galleries, exhibits of student and class art work change weekly, resulting in over 160 exhibitions annually.
